Saturday, 5/7/22 from 2 to 4 pm. Spend a relaxing afternoon at Blazing Star Flowers in Alexander, NC. Tour the farm and take in spring mountain views. See our early season flower fields while you learn about sustainable low-till growing methods to start your own flower garden for yourself and our pollinator friends to enjoy. You'll receive informative handouts and a few plants and seeds to get your garden started. You can also purchase additional plants at a private plant sale while you're here. This workshop is designed for home gardeners, not commercial growers, and it makes a wonderful companion to our Seedling Share Plant Collection or the flower starts we are currently selling at the East Tailgate Market Fridays from 3-6 or the NCArboretum Plant Sale 5/28 from 10-3. We'll talk about soil preparation, planting, maintaining, and harvesting a variety of flowers including dahlias. We have a covered gathering space onsite so the workshop will be held rain or shine. In the unlikely event of severe weather, the class will be postponed to the following Saturday. Refunds are not available but your space may be transferred to someone if you notify us via email at least 12 hours before the start time of the event. If the workshop is sold out, you may email us to be placed on a wait list. A minimum of five students are required for the workshop to run.
